Oak Island Mystery Tour from Halifax

The Legendary Treasure Story and Nova Scotia’s South Shore

Oak Island has fascinated treasure hunters and historians for more than two centuries. Located along Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore, the island is famous for the long running mystery of the “Money Pit” and the ongoing search for hidden treasure.

This private tour from Halifax explores the area surrounding Oak Island while travelling through some of the most scenic coastal communities on the South Shore. Along the way you will hear the stories and legends that have made Oak Island one of the world’s most intriguing treasure mysteries.

The tour also includes visits to charming coastal towns and scenic viewpoints that showcase the natural beauty of Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coastline.

What the Day Feels Like

Your tour begins with pickup in Halifax or Dartmouth before travelling along Nova Scotia’s picturesque South Shore.

The drive itself is part of the experience as we pass through coastal communities, quiet coves, and scenic stretches of Atlantic shoreline. Along the way your guide shares the fascinating history and legends connected to Oak Island and the centuries long search for hidden treasure.

Upon arrival in the Oak Island area, we visit the Oak Island Visitor and Interpretation Centre, where exhibits and displays help tell the story of the famous Money Pit and the many explorers who have searched for answers over the past two centuries. The centre offers a deeper look into the engineering challenges, discoveries, and theories surrounding the island’s enduring mystery.

After exploring the Oak Island area, we continue along the South Shore to the charming coastal town of Mahone Bay. Here we can stop for a relaxed bite to eat at the well known Mug & Anchor Pub, a favourite local spot where cast members from The Curse of Oak Island are known to frequent.

Following our stop in Mahone Bay, we begin the scenic return toward Halifax, enjoying beautiful coastal views and the relaxed pace of Nova Scotia’s South Shore along the way.

Because this is a private tour, the pace remains comfortable and flexible, allowing time for photos, short walks, and enjoying the scenery throughout the day.
