All tours are senior and kid friendly, however, please note the following:

• Kid Friendly -  Please advise if a booster seat is required and we can provide.
• I am unable to accommodate child/baby car seats in the vehicle. 
• Please advise of any mobility issues and if a guest has a walker, so I can ensure room the day of the tour.  I don't always have room for folding walkers. (I usually have cleaning suppliers and a cooler onboard)  I have very limited space for storage. Contact me with any questions at all. Ty 
• Wheel Chair -  I am generally not able to accommodate wheel chairs or motorized scooters due to available space.  Having said that I have accepted some in the past on a case by case bases.  There is more space in our Ford Transit based on availability.  Guests must be able to enter and exit the vehicle safely unassisted. After exploring the Oak Island area, we continue along the South Shore to the charming coastal town of Mahone Bay. Here we can stop for a relaxed bite to eat at the well known Mug & Anchor Pub, a favourite local spot where cast members from The Curse of Oak Island are known to frequent.

Prince Edward Island is known for its rolling farmland, red sandstone cliffs, charming seaside villages, and warm island hospitality. The island also gained international fame as the setting for Lucy Maud Montgomery’s beloved novel Anne of Green Gables, a story that has drawn visitors from around the world to experience the landscapes that inspired it.

This extended day tour from Halifax offers a memorable journey to Canada’s smallest province while showcasing some of the most beautiful scenery in Atlantic Canada.

Travel through Nova Scotia, into New Brunswick and across the impressive Confederation Bridge, the longest bridge in Canada, before arriving on Prince Edward Island. Once on the island, we explore coastal communities, scenic landscapes, and some of the locations that make PEI famous around the world based on interests.

Your day begins with an early morning pickup in Halifax or Dartmouth as we travel north through Nova Scotia toward the Northumberland Strait.

The journey itself is part of the adventure, passing through rural landscapes, small towns, and coastal scenery before reaching the impressive Confederation Bridge. Spanning nearly 13 kilometres, the bridge connects New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and offers sweeping views across the strait.

As we travel across Prince Edward Island you will see the pastoral landscapes and coastal scenery that inspired Lucy Maud Montgomery’s famous Anne of Green Gables stories, which continue to attract visitors from around the world. Along the way there will be opportunities to enjoy local island cuisine and take in the relaxed pace of life that makes Prince Edward Island so special.

Because this is a private tour, the pace remains flexible and can be adjusted based on guest interests and timing throughout the day.   

Please note there is a lot a driving durning the day from heading to Prince Edward Island itself and traveling to various locations within Prince Edward Island.   Also note that many 'tourists areas such as the Boardwalk at Cavendish and Victoria by the Sea' are not open after the 1st week of September as most students (Staff) return to school.

Tour Overview

A full day traveling which is always flexible based on guests interests.

• P/U Hotel or other location; Note that this is a full 12 hour+ day and recommend a pickup from 7:30 am - 8:30 am
• Travel from Halifax to Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick to the Confederation Bridge, approx. 3 hrs travel time
• A stop the near the visitor center and a short walk to get photos of the bridge up close before crossing to PEI.
• Travel across the bridge which crosses the North Cumberland Strait (approx. 13KM/8Miles) to Borden-Carleton PEI.

• Max seating based on typical sized adults/children. The number of passengers should be reduced for over-sized/taller passengers to ensure comfort & accessibility.

Dodge Grand Caravan

• Seating arrangement – up to 6 persons - 1 in the front passenger, 2 in middle bucket seats, up to 3 in the rear bench seat. 
• Max seating based on typical sized adults/children. The number of passengers should be reduced for over-sized/taller passengers to ensure comfort & accessibility.

All tours are senior and kid friendly ... However, please note the following:

• Kid Friendly -  Please advise if a booster seat is required and we can provide.
• I am unable to accommodate child/baby car seats in the vehicle. 
• Please advise of any mobility issues and if a guest has a walker, so I can ensure room the day of the tour.  I don't always have room for folding walkers. (I usually have cleaning suppliers and a cooler onboard)  I have very limited space for storage. Contact me with any questions at all. Ty 
• Wheel Chair -  I am generally not able to accommodate wheel chairs or motorized scooters due to available space.  Having said that I have accepted some in the past on a case by case bases.  There is more space in our Ford Transit based on availability.  Guests must be able to enter and exit the vehicle safely unassisted. This combined with a lower number of guests to accommodate space requirements.  (ie. Room in back or folded down back seat)   Please contact me before booking if this is a request.   Showing up for a tour without advising of a wheel chair or mobility scooter may result in delaying the tour or cancellation due to lack of space/preparation.

When choosing a tour company, it is important to ensure the operator is fully licensed and compliant with Nova Scotia’s transportation regulations and Motor Carrier Act.

A legal operator will have:

• A front Motor Carrier numbered plate with CV, P, or Px designation
• Required company lettering and identification displayed on the vehicle
• A valid Safety Inspection Sticker in the front windshield, typically lower centre, renewed every six months
• A driver/guide with a minimum Class 4 Commercial Driver LicenceLicensed taxi services and limousine companies are also considered safe and approved operators.

• All Nova Scotia Health & Safety protocols are followed to ensure a safe experience including cleaning/sanitation of vehicle before and during tour.
• As of March 21, 2022 Nova Scotia has lifted all restrictions including mask mandates, other than in Hospital settings.

While presented as a sample itinerary, all Down East Tours multi day journeys are fully customizable and can be adjusted based on guest interests, travel style, and preferred pace.  Group sizes usually range from two to four guests.

What the Experience Feels Like

This journey offers a relaxed exploration of Nova Scotia’s diverse landscapes and communities.

Beginning in Halifax, guests experience the vibrant harbour city that has welcomed travelers and sailors for centuries. From there the journey moves along the province’s scenic South Shore, where historic towns and rugged coastline create some of the most photographed landscapes in Canada.

As the tour continues north to Cape Breton Island, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. The Cabot Trail winds along cliffs and mountains overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, offering spectacular viewpoints and unforgettable coastal drives.

Throughout the journey there are opportunities to enjoy fresh seafood, explore historic towns, take short scenic walks, and experience the welcoming hospitality that Nova Scotia is known for.

Because this is a private tour, each day remains flexible and can evolve naturally based on weather, interests, and the rhythm of the journey.

Once we hit the road to Cape Breton, our home base for a couple of days will be Baddeck, the gateway to the Cabot Trail and home to the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. Take time to explore the museum, wander the quaint town, or enjoy a boat tour. Highlights include visiting the partially reconstructed 18th-century French fortress at Louisbourg and a full day exploring the Cabot Trail’s scenic views, trails, and artisan shops. With a flexible itinerary tailored to your interests, this adventure promises discovery and unforgettable memories!

• Travel through Mahone Bay, a peaceful, tranquil destination with a captivating seafaring past. We will stop for some photos of the 3 Churches from across the bay.

General Pricing Overview - 2027 RATES

Itinerary Preparation Fee: $250 per couple ($125 per person).This non-refundable fee covers planning and secures your tour dates. It’s applied toward your final cost. A basic tour outline with quote is provided and dates are secured in our calendar.

2027 Daily Rate: From $1,600 per day, includes transportation, guiding, itinerary preparation, National Park Fees, and the guide’s accommodations/meals. (Rates would be lower for day tours from Halifax as there are no costs for guide accommodation)

Guest Lodging: Typically $275–$400⁺ per night, depending on season and property type.Additional costs may include park fees, ferry crossings, bridge tolls, tastings, or seasonal surcharges.
