Lunenburg & South Shore Tour from Halifax

A UNESCO Seaside Town and Nova Scotia’s Scenic Coast

Nova Scotia’s South Shore is one of the most scenic regions in Atlantic Canada, known for its charming fishing villages, colourful seaside towns, and beautiful coastal landscapes.

This private tour from Halifax travels the South Shore to the historic town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its brightly painted waterfront buildings and deep maritime heritage. The waterfront remains an active working harbour, home to fishing boats, sailing vessels, and the famous schooner Bluenose II, the sailing ambassador of Nova Scotia.

On the return we also visit the charming coastal community of Mahone Bay and enjoy the relaxed pace of Nova Scotia’s Atlantic coastline.

What the Day Feels Like

Your tour begins with pickup in Halifax or Dartmouth before travelling directly to the historic town of Lunenburg. The comfortable drive takes us through Nova Scotia’s countryside before arriving at one of Canada’s most beautiful coastal towns.

In Lunenburg you will have time to explore the colourful waterfront, stroll the historic streets, browse local shops and galleries, and enjoy lunch overlooking the harbour if you wish. Founded in 1753, Lunenburg is one of the best preserved British colonial settlements in North America and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

After time in Lunenburg, we begin our return journey along Nova Scotia’s scenic South Shore. This portion of the day offers beautiful coastal views as we travel through quiet seaside communities.

A stop in Mahone Bay allows time to enjoy the harbour views and see the town’s iconic three churches standing along the waterfront. Known for its relaxed charm and picturesque setting, Mahone Bay is a favourite stop for visitors exploring the South Shore.

From here we continue back toward Halifax, completing a relaxing day of coastal scenery, historic towns, and maritime culture.

Because this is a private tour, the pace remains comfortable and flexible, allowing time for photos, short walks, and enjoying the experience along the way.
