Peggy's Cove & Lighthouse - August 3, 2025 - We really enjoyed this tour. Mel was an excellent tour guide - was great to hear from a local and Mel was able to personalise the tour exactly as we wanted - he was very flexible and accommodating. 10/10, would highly recommend! Booking process and info along the way was great too.
Extended Day to Prince Edward Island Private Tour - Jul 25, 2026 - Mel is a great guide!! We did a long trip to Prince Edward Island and he provided a slide show on the way which displayed where we were at and what was coming up. He also used his iPad to talk about things like the Titanic and its ties to Halifax. He was very accommodating to our specific itinerary and listened closely to our likes to help shape the tour. We stopped at a brewery, a souvenir shop, a winery, a disc golf course, a honey winery, a lighthouse, the Dalvay House, and Charlottetown. He was outstanding as a tour guide!! I have been to 53 countries and on countless tours and he is at the top!!
Valley Wine Tasting & The Bay of Fundy - Jul 24, 2026 - Mel was fantastic from his customised transport down to the organisation and flexibility. Knowledge was vast and very interesting complete with iPad graphics for all to see. Our group had a wonderful time visiting wineries, cider places, a great Irish pub lunch, cheese tasting, some beautiful scenery and wildlife included. Mel's communication from the outset was impeccable and he was always willing to change things around. Would recommend a tour with Mel at any time. Thanks for some wonderful memories.

Annapolis Valley / Wine Tasting / Bay of Fundy - July 18, 2026 - Fantastic tour! We selected the 7:30 am option. The Bay of Fundy was gorgeous and peaceful. The tide was out and revealed beautiful tiny flowers in some areas. We also saw an eagle and a couple of lamas near there. In addition to showing us the different vineyards in the valley and the wine tasting, Mel introduced us to a place where we could sample different cheeses and a place where we could buy honey. There were beehives on the property. We appreciated Mel's flexibility within the framework of his tours. It makes the tour unique.
Extended Day to Prince Edward Island - July 9, 2026 - We had a wonderful time at Prince Edward Island. We saw fishing villages, churches, red cliffs and the little house that inspired the novel of Anne of Greengabels. Our guide was very professional, kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. He did all he could to show us as much as possible including lobster traps and oyster farms. We really enjoyed our time there and we highly recommend this trip to the PEI.
Custom Oak Island Tour - July 1, 2026 - Mel picked us up from Halifax airport and we drove to Oak Island. A beautiful scenic drive, and a great visit. A great experience! Mel has been great! Would highly recommend.
Oak Island and South Shore Coastline - June 27, 2026 - Very informative, great conversation, safe driver, comfortable van, both days were very enjoyable and relaxed. The amount of historical knowledge Mel has is astounding. He is a true story teller- able to tell you about the history while engaging your imagination. My husband has health issues and Mel worked so well with him. Tour was adjusted to my husband’s ability as needed. Mel also took pictures of us and sites and got some I never would have got. Mel is easy to contact if any concerns or changes needed prior to trip. Mel has the amazing ability to anticipate what you need at any given time!
Halifax Titanic & Fisherman's Cove - June 25, 2026 - Absolutely Five Stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our driver, Mel, was personable, friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the area. We had requested, at time of booking, a wheelchair accessible van to accommodate 6 adults. Mel from Down East Tours brought a van that fit us all perfectly! Mel brought plenty of bottled water and the van was comfortable, clean and climate controlled. Mel gave us wonderful, factual, information about Halifax, the Titanic grave site and Fisherman’s Cove. Our tour was amazing because of Mel and his humor was on-point with a few jokes thrown into his talks. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves immensely throughout the day! We wished we had more time to spend with Mel! He truly became a part of our family by the end of the tour - we loved having him as our guide in Nova Scotia! Mel recommended a wonderful place in Fisherman’s Cove for lunch called Boondocks. We invited Mel to join us for lunch and had wonderful conversation, food and service! This recommendation was perfect for an al fresco dining experience and the food was delicious! We would recommend and re-book with Mel and Down East Tours when visiting Halifax! Truly an exceptional experience!
Customize Multi-day Nova Scotia - May 17 - 29, 2026 - We had a fabulous private 7 day tour with Mel during which we saw a lot of Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton. Mel went above and beyond to meet our every need. We could not have done the trip without him and were very grateful for his company and resources. At one point, my husband left his warm jacket behind. Mel was able to recover it through his contacts and return it to us. He did a great job checking out a particular inn we were interested in that had some questionable information online. His help was very reassuring in helping us plan our itinerary and lodging. Overall, Mel was a delight to spend time with, an incredible guide and help to us and someone who became a friend. Highly recommend.
Extended Peggy's Cove to Experience More - May 9, 2026 - This was an interesting tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Mel explained the history of Halifax and surrounding areas in such a way that we will remember for a very long time. The tour took us to a couple of excellent artisanal craftsmen and out of the way places. We would highly recommend taking a tour with Mel.
Custom Oak Island / Peggy's Cove Tour - May 3, 2026 - We had an excellent time with Mel and learnt much about Halifax. We were able to have a brief visit on Oak Island seeing the artifacts and even meeting one of the guys from the show. We learned about the Titanic and saw some of the grave sites. We explored Peggy's cove and had a fantastic lobster lunch there too.
