Health and Safety
NOTE: Not all tour companies operating in Halifax are properly licensed. One operator, See Sight Tours, has been legally suspended for five years effective February 12, 2025. (see legal ruling) Yet they continue to operate illegally. They have been stopped by authorities, ticketed, fined, and have even left guests stranded at Peggy’s Cove. They are now banned from operating at the cruise ship port.
When choosing a tour company, it is important to ensure the operator is fully licensed and compliant with Nova Scotia’s transportation regulations. A legal operator will have:
• A front Motor Carrier numbered plate with CV, P, or Px designation
• Required company lettering and identification displayed on the vehicle
• A valid Safety Inspection Sticker in the front windshield, typically lower centre, renewed every six months
• A driver with a minimum Class 4 Commercial Driver Licence
Licensed taxi services and limousine companies are also considered safe and approved operators.
